FiveFingers Tight-Rope

You ask, "what can I do in those FiveFingers that I can't do in my regular running shoes?"

My answer: "This!"

The FiveFingers let your feet do what feet do, i.e., really flex, really feel, and still get the bonus of a little protection which goes a long way in some environments...like jumping down onto rocks, or if you go the wrong way, onto yucca and cactus!

I've finally found someone who will ship me FiveFingers to Austria in a reasonable timeframe, and I'm really looking forward to them. Thanks for the intersting post :-)

Since posting this blog, I have come to learn about a sport called slack line walking, or slack lining.

See: http://www.needlesports.com/advice/slacklining.htm

Tony Post, president of Vibram USA, in response to this blog wrote:

Thanks for the link BT, don't know if you have seen FiveFingers getting used
in Slack Lining yet, but they are quickly becoming a product of choice for
that activity.

When I was in SLC, I gave a pair of Sprints to a guy who's in a lot of
Warren Miller movies. They are filming some slack lining and adventure
stuff in Hawaii the next 2 months and he'll be sending some video of that.
I'll pass it along or post it on the site when we get it.

I find that balance sports really build the core. Balance and relax.

Just did some more researh on slack lining .

It turns out that one of the originals, a guy named Scott Balcom, grew up near me and was friends with people I know!

I went to his website, http://www.slackdaddytools.com , and found photos of him slack lining in the 1980s in places where I hung out.

It is a small world.

PS. I want to learn how to do what Scott is doing in this photo:
